How to save money on insurance?

I will tell you how to save money on home and car insurance.

Begin by accurately checking the coverage that you have in your insurance policy.

Careless insurance agents could give you coverage which you did not want to have or simply did not require. They could do if for their own profit in the form of higher commissions from the contract.

Some insurance companies have higher prices than others. Sometimes they increase the price if, for example they have more expenses than expected. Sometimes companies decide to increase prices for specific people categories. Some people have stuck with their insurance company for years, thinking that they are given a better price for being a long standing customer, and this is absolutely wrong.

The most important thing for insurance companies is that you have no lapse in coverage. Any insurance company will give you a discount for your car insurance if you come to them having six or more months of continuous car insurance. People who are used to economizing usually start their searches for better insurance conditions one month prior to insurance expiration. I represent six car insurance companies; in my agency clients move from one company to another and get better conditions almost unnoticeable for themselves.

There is a difference when it comes to saving money on home insurance. Prices for home insurance depend greatly on the year the house was built. The older the house is, the more expensive the insurance is, and there are fewer companies that will insure your house.

That’s why if you want to have better and less expensive insurance company, buy houses no older than 10 years.
But what should someone do if house is older than 10 years?

If the house is more than a decade old, many insurance companies provide a discount for a new roof, placed in 2001 or later. Also companies give discounts if the roof is securely attached to the house.

To receive discounts for having a new roof or for its good attachment, a special conclusion - "Migration Report" - should be given to the insurance company. Only state certified people have the ability to make such a report.

If you require such a report, inform us and we'll provide you with the company that will make your "Migration Report" in the shortest terms and at the highest quality.

Moreover, while buying the house check if the house is located in a flood zone. Since home insurance doesn't cover damage by water, banks will make you buy flood insurance as well.
